Book of Abstracts
This Book of Abstracts brings together the main academic outputs produced through the GEroNIMO project, reflecting the collaborative work of researchers, breeding organisations and stakeholders across Europe and beyond.
The collection highlights advances in genetics, genomics, epigenetics, phenotyping, modelling, local breed conservation and breeding innovation, while also addressing the ethical and societal dimensions of emerging technologies in animal breeding.
The abstracts are organised into five thematic sections that reflect the scientific logic of the project: from genome-to-phenotype understanding, to environmental and epigenetic responses, local breed diversity, smarter breeding tools, and the societal conditions for responsible innovation. This structure is intended to help readers follow the project’s main storyline and identify outputs relevant to their own research, breeding, policy or stakeholder engagement interests.
The collection includes peer-reviewed publications, preprints, review articles, a PhD dissertation and selected open research resources. Conference proceedings have been excluded to keep the focus on academic outputs with a more permanent publication record.
Together, these outputs show how GEroNIMO contributed to new knowledge, methods and reflections for the future of pig and poultry breeding in Europe.
